Billy Strean on Speaking
June 27, 2010 by admin
You may have heard that the number-one rated human fear is public speaking. Number two is death. If at a funeral, I am one of those who would rather be giving the eulogy than in the casket. When you hear me speak to your group, you can tell I consider it a joy, honor, and privilege. Nothing makes me feel more alive.
Speaking is a relationship and an energy exchange where you get to share that aliveness. Audience members have said:
“I was energized for the rest of the day and got so much work done. Thanks for bringing Billy to our facility.”
“Great sense of humor. Good info. Awesome style of communication.”
“Thanks for making me laugh”
“Very fun and uplifting. High energy.”
“It was great, wish I could bring back Billy in my suitcase.”
Speaking provides me an opportunity to share my greatest gifts of inspiration and enthusiasm with people. Over the years I’ve had the good fortune to serve diverse groups such as Vancouver Inner City Schools; Yale School of Management; many sectors of municipal, provincial, and federal government; health care; corporations, and programs for seniors.
After standing in front of over 30,000 people, I realize that there are commonalities in the human spirit that can be touched by sharing words, emotions, and action.
I’m always thrilled to explore how to share my gifts and what I’ve learned from 40 years of going to school (okay, some of them as a teacher) and from working with some of the world’s best performers in sport, medicine, education, music, and business.
