It’s been quite a week for many of my friends and loved ones in NJ and NY.  My mom just got power back on and some friends suddenly became owners of waterfront property.  I was very happy to see the spirit of care and generosity reaching out to all the folks who had been hurt by Hurricane Sandy.

If you are like me, you are contacted daily by good causes who are seeking your support. I tend to focus a lot of my charitable giving toward environmental and nature causes. There is one health-related cause that I’ve embraced and I hope you will share your support.

Men, traditionally, are more reluctant to take action for their own health and well-being than women.  As about one man in six will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, it is important to raise awareness and help men to understand how they can take care of themselves. Similarly, there is such a stigma around mental health issues, that many people avoid seeking the care that can make a difference for them.

As you may know, during November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in Canada and around the world. With their “Mo’s”, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and male mental health initiatives.

I have a few days of cheesy moustache as part of my participation with this excellent, good-humored cause. Please check out my Mo Space and please consider a donation
