Workshops To Lighten Up
“HoHo Dojo on the Job: Humour and Laughter in the Workplace”
We’ve all heard that laughter is the best medicine, yet many of us have hardening of the attitudes at work. This talk shows the many, merry merits of bringing humour and laughter to our professional lives. Participants learn how to “HAVALAF” and the power of perspectives. A “laughter club” (breathing, gentle stretching, and laughter exercises) can be included in this session. We play with specific practices and structures to bring fun and energy to work.
“Love Life Laughing, Practice Lightheartedness”
This workshop takes participants on an experiential journey focusing on daily attitudes and practices. After taking your group through an energizing laughter session, participants will work in groups to being implementing the ideas. Examples associated with the daily attitudes (shown on the home page) include “Compliment Bombardment,” “Yes…And,” “Click,” “Make Their Day Inquiry,” “Gratitude Circle,” “Let it Go,” and “Everybody’s Playin’ on the Weekend”
Many people recognize the value of laughter and humor. Too frequently, our interest in lightening up stays in our head and does not influence our actions and ways of being in the world. There are physical practices that support and create the self who can laugh easily and often and display the dispositions of humor. In this workshop, participants experience how laughter and humor are like a somatic warm-up for change. Based on Reich’s ideas about bands of armor around the body and the chakra system, we use music and movement to let go and lighten up.
Have you heard the saying: “If they’re laughing, they may be listening”? Humour and laughter are associated with many positive learning outcomes. This session explores supporting evidence for using humour in teaching and provides several strategies for including humour in course outlines, class sessions, and exams. You don’t have to be funny; I’m not.
